Harendra Maurya, a resident of Morena in Madhya Pradesh, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house on Saturday night, March 8. His family members informed the police on Sunday morning and the body was shifted to the district hospital for postmortem.
However, shortly after the incident, a video that went viral took a new turn in the case.
The disturbing viral video shows the deceased Maurya, who lived in Gandhi Colony, being brutally beaten by his wife and daughters. Harendra was lying on the bed holding his wife Rachna Maurya’s legs. One daughter held his hands while the other beat him with a stick. Harendra’s younger son, who was sitting nearby, tried to intervene, but his elder sister threatened him with a stick and shut him up.
After the shocking video surfaced, the police changed the direction of the investigation. The postmortem of the deceased will now be conducted by the Gwalior Medical College Board.
“Initially, there were reports that Harendra Maurya, a resident of Gandhi Colony, had committed suicide. The City Kotwali police have started an investigation and sent the body for postmortem. However, a video that went viral has thrown the case into chaos. In the video, the deceased’s family members – his wife, two daughters and mother – are seen beating him. Based on this video, all those involved are being questioned and now the Gwalior Medical Board is conducting a postmortem.”
The police are now investigating whether Harendra’s death was the result of an attack. The incident has shocked the area and the video is being widely discussed on social media.
